In this weeks ‘Meet the rider’ we’re meeting rider Jullian Ross, who’s worked in hospitality for over 7 years.
Hi Jullian, tell us a bit about yourself ?
Well, I’m 46 years old and I’ve got a beautiful little girl, Lucy, age 11. She’s my angel. I’m madly passionate about hospitality, having fallen into it 7 years ago – I don’t ever want to leave. I’m also passionate about pretty much all sport, as well as dogs and frogs 🙂 I’m getting older and definitely amidst a mid-life crisis, so I’m planning to do something really wholesome every year now, while ever I can!
What’s your background in the industry?
I fell into hospitality in 2013, when I was promoting a new data capture solution for hoteliers. It was love at first sight, and I’ve been making friends ever since. I’ve never worked with such passionate, hardworking people, who support each other so much, regardless of the competitive nature.
How are you preparing for PFP2020?
Before Christmas, I was incredibly devoted to my exercise bike, doing around 100 miles per week, but I’ve definitely slipped off the wagon. My plan is to be back up to 100 miles per week by the end of February, then get out on the roads, when the weather permits. My lofty ambition is to be as fast as my slowest compatriot 🙂
Tell us something unsuaul/fun/strange about yourself?
I used to have a frog pond, with over 50 frogs, all with their own names…..
Why are you getting behind the bar?
A few reasons…. I don’t think I do nearly enough to help outside of work, so it’s now a plan to do something every year. I love the group that’s been assembled – full of great people. I’ve never been to Jordan. It’ll force me to get fit. It makes me feel good about myself 🙂
