In this weeks ‘Meet the rider’ we’re meeting rider Richard Hartley, Chief Product Officer for S4labour i Banbury.
Hi Richard, tell us a bit about yourself and your background in the industry?
Hi, I am Richard, Chief Product Officer for S4labour based in Banbury. I was raised in Norfolk so enjoy doing all things “country” but now live in Henley on Thames with my two young sons.
What’s your background in the industry?
At S4labour we develop and sell labour scheduling software to the hospitality trade. This is something close to my heart and interests me greatly, as I started my career working as a graduate for M&B. I went on to manage areas with the All Bar One and Premium Country Dining Group, overseeing sites for ASK Italian and working with Geronimo Inns so I definitely know the challenges faced in terms of labour and rota scheduling! Keep your eyes peeled for the three new products S4labour are releasing this year!
How will you prepare for PFP2020?
Well, I have been hitting the gym with increasing frequency, although I am not quite sure that my brain has passed the message on to my legs of the challenge facing them in June. I have just returned from a skiing trip where I was quite pleased with my stamina – both on the slopes and in terms of the après ski. I have been doing a lot of running and generally ensuring the fridge is stocked with the greener variety of what I would normally have.
Tell us something unusual/fun/strange about yourself?
Hmmm….being Scorpio, some say we tend to be tedious and are classed as “the bad boys of the zodiac”. This simply isn’t true for me, I prefer to think that my characteristics include magnetic confidence and a certain smoothness! That said, my colleagues call the me the “Hugh Grant” of the office, so that has left me feeling rather conflicted!
Why are you getting behind the bar?
First and foremost, I totally empathise with the problems faced by those in need working in the industry. I want to not only raise money but awareness to this great cause and in doing so get fit! It’s a win/win (I hope!)
